So what are Blindspots then? The quadrant where you score your highest score can present Blindspots. An L2 dominant thinker (a stickler for detail during a project) for instance, can possibly struggle to get a project to a launch date, as there are always more to do to get all the boxes ticked. But not being aware of the significance of the other quadrants, other than your dominant quadrant, may also present Blindspots.
I would like to use the example of Mr. Stockton Rush, the CEO of the company OceanGate, the developer of the submersible, the Titan.

No doubtedly Mr. Rush was a highly intellectual, financially successful, very ambitious business man. If I had to guess, I would say that he was most likely a dominant R1 thinker, an imagineer.

Mr. Rush had employed a lead engineer, Mr. Tony Nissen, who was later fired by Mr. Rush. Mr. Rush was getting impatient to launch the Titan and according to him, it was taking too long to get to a launch date.
Jay, one of the former employees of OceanGate had the following to say about Mr. Rush: “”He felt the CEO did not think it would be dangerous for them to make the trip. He was so passionate about this project, and he was such a believer. He drank his own Kool-Aid, and there was just no talking him out of it. I don’t think Stockton understood the risk himself, or didn’t want to understand the risk.””
The perfect storm always has a combination of things that go wrong, and in this case a tad of arrogance may have also been one of the factors. I however believe that Mr. Rush did not have appreciation for his own Blindspots. As an imagineer and a rule-breaker, the step-by-step, no short- cuts approach getting to the finish line of a project can be very frustrating. Knowing where your Blindspots are and allowing people who compliment you in those areas to do their work, are priceless. Let Mindsight help you with that!
